Best sock pattern and yarn for beginner sock-er

I’ve made one pair before, but am looking for a pattern for a cute sock. What yarn too?(that can be ordered online)

you should try the free patterns tab at the top of the page. i’ve found a gazillion sock patterns that way.

as for yarn, i used kp swish for my first pair, using silver’s tutorial. she now has a magic loop tutorial if you want to learn that at the same time.

also, if you google magic loop, you should find a tute or 3 on that subject.
