Uh, yeah…the topic pretty much says it all. Which rib pattern do you prefer for the cuff of a sock?? I’ve done 1x1 and 2x2. I like the 2x2 but this last time it seemed too loose. Not sure why. I am experimenting with a 3x3 rib but I’m not sure if it will be looser or tighter than the others.
hmm that’s a good question, KQ. though I would have to say I like my ribbing to be 1x3 or 1x4.
Dang, R, you beat me to it. I was gonna say 1x2 just to be difficult.
hehe, wasn’t trying to be difficult, it’s just that particular rib pattern is on the socks that I’m wearing at the moment.
Yeah, but I was TRYING to be difficult.
Oh well, in that case, TRY harder
I do, everyday…
In the last two pairs of socks I’ve done 2x2. I like it. Infact, to help the sock stay put, I’ve done 2x2 all the way down the leg - but then again, we are talking about knee-highs that I plan on wearing with my skirts.
I suppose I will be difficult and say that I have no fave!! LOL
Knitting the cuff in a smaller diameter needle is often done so that the cuff will be tight; especially if you are playing with colorwork & there’s not much ribbing.
