Best (increase) for toe up sock

I’m working on Toe-up socks http://www.hellchick.net/
The pattern calls for figure-eight c.o… I decided to go with the turkish c.o.
not a problem so far. But, I am having problems with the m1 (left/right slanted) it’s leaving a very small hole. My technique seems to be correct (I checked out amy’s tutorial)

Is there a better way to increase for toe-up socks , something a little tighter?

Thanks,
knitbebe

When you’re doing the M1 increase are you sure you’re knitting into the small back loop? If you knit into the front, it does leave a hole. Knitting into the tiny loop generally doesn’t.

Thanks Ingrid,
umm…

I’m going to do a swatch of just the m1 L & m1 R and see what happens.

I was looking through “knitting in plain english” (one that you suggested & I love it!!) She uses a blind stockinette-stitch (m1), picking up from the back & knitting into the back–. Is this a m1 without a slant??

Now that I have dove into (the non-hole) variety of m1 I’ve entered a whole new world  so much to learn :XX:

I’m not sure about that stitch, I usually pick up from the front and knit into the back.
