Pattern: Best Friend Cardigan from Twinkle’s Big City Knits
Yarn: Twinkle Soft Chunky
Size: small
Needle: Size 19
Modifications: changed the sleeves from set in, to raglan. Knit seamless from the bottom up. Sleeves done in the round. Short row shaping for the neckline.
I think I should have made the medium instead of the small, but hopefully it will stretch out a little with wear. It is supposed to be fitted, but I think the gap below the bottom button bothers me a little. I made the buttons – they are sterling silver.
WOW! I just LOVE that sweater. I love all the stuff in that Twinkles Big City Knits book. The only thing I dont love is that all the sizes in that book are so SMALL!
I think the biggest bust size is about a 32. Great for all the model types (lucky girls!) but not for me! I’m a bit bigger than that.
But that sweater looks just perfect, I really love it. And the color is so purty.
Thanks for all the compliments! I think I got some stares when I went out for lunch today (not sure if that is good or bad). However, one of the teachers at my daughter’s preschool loved it and was dragging me around the building this morning making people look at it.
I used somewhere between 3 & 4 skeins. I think the pattern called for 4, but I used very little of that.
I am working on the Groovy Sweater Dress from the same book. It calls for 6 skeins, but I really don’t think I will use them all (and it is too late to return any).
Yes, the sizes in the book are small, but they do stretch. According to the the Twinkle sizing chart a small is a 4-6 size, which for me is accurate. The funky designs and super chunky yarn aren’t for everyone, but I like them.
grr i hope ur happy it s so nice i have to go find that pattern book. lol ill never save up for xmas at this rate lol love the pink it looks so warm is it?
My library has that book, and it’s great. But Candice is right, the big yarn/knit isn’t for everybody, but my daughter just LOVES that sweater. She wants me to knit her one now!
Candice! You are adorable and the sweater is GORGEOUS, too! I think you are right about the ‘fit’. It looks good on you NOW…but IF if the yarn should ‘relax’…your sweater will still fit! KUDOS to you! Wonderful pattern, excellent color choice!!!
