Best cast on for neckline

I’m starting a new sweater. It’s knitted top-down, and then a collar is added at the end (see picture).

I wish to know what is a good cast-on method to use for this project.

Should I do a temporary crochet cast on for the neckline? So that when I pick up and knit the collar I do that from the provisional cast on? Which might mean there is no ‘bump’ on the inside? Or is a knitted / long tail type cast on better?

Thanks in advance

From what I’ve heard from friends who knit a lot of sweaters it’s usually best to cast on normally and then pickup stitches for the neck ribbing. That creates a more stable neck that lays nicely. A good stretchy cast on is important. I use German twisted cast on for things like sock tops because it’s stretchy.
