Bernat Satin

A friend gifted me with enough Bernat Satinto make a baby/toddler size sweater. I have a co-worker whose wife is due in a couple of months, and I was thinking about knitting a sweater for the baby.
I was thinking about using it to knit Trellis from Knitty.

Have any of you used this yarn before? If so, does it hold up well to lots of washing and drying (that is, is it suitable for kids’ clothes  )?
Do you think it would work OK for a cabled sweater like Trellis?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I’ve used it for several projects including one with lots of cables and I loved it. It washes well and wears really well. I think you’ll be pleased with it.

I’ve used it several times to make hats and scarves for two little girls and it washes very, very well. I also liked knitting with it, it’s so soft!

I bought a bunch of skeins of Bernat Satin at Michael’s when it was on sale. I love the yarn; it is very soft and easy to work with. I made four easy cable hats (pattern was on the label) and my boyfriend washed one by accident. The hat was still perfect. I don’t know whether to credit my knitting or the yarn. But the yarn is still great and I would buy it again.
