Bernat Alpaca scarf pattern needed

Hello,

Do any of you have a scarf pattern that uses Bernat Alpaca yarn? The only one I can find on the internet is too difficult, as it utilizes three needles, and I am not that good yet.

Any pattern will be helpful.

Thank you!

You can probably use any pattern you like. With a scarf, guage isn’t too important, just knit it as long as you like.

I know you’re right. I’m just very new to knitting and am nervous about making a pattern myself.

Bernat Alpaca is a bulky yarn so any pattern that uses bulky will work just fine. However, as previously mentioned any scarf pattern will be fine. The bulky yarn will just make it come out wider. Length is determined by when you stop knitting.

Here’s a few easy ones that can use any yarn.

I’ve made these first two…very easy and they look nice!

That first link you sent me is gorgeous! That’s the one I am going to make. Thank you very much!

You’re welcome! Be sure to share your FO in What’cha Knittin’ when you’re done!

That’s an easy pattern, but you will need to change the needle size to 10½ or 11 with that yarn or it will be too dense with the yarn.

Oh definitely! Good point, Sue, I forgot as a new knitter she might not realize that. Use the needle suggested on the yarn as a start and see how you like the fabric.

Bernat Alpaca has a size 10 on the label gauge and I think that’s much too small for this yarn, especially for a scarf. That’s why I recommended the larger ones. At least I didn’t say anything about size 13 which is just about right for it…

:teehee: I’ve used that yarn and found the 10 or 11 to be okay, but I think it depends somewhat on whether you are a loose or tight knitter. I’m loose. :shifty: :teehee:

I’m even to slightly loose. I can get gauge on patterns, but don’t like most yarns knit that tightly. So usually use a needle 2-3 size larger than they say.

It’s actually coming out quite nicely with the size 8 needles! It doesnt look a lot like the picture, but it’s beautiful!

I posted pictures on the whatchaknittin page as FO: alpaca scarf

I apologize, I do not know how to link to another thread yet.

It will look different in part because the Bernat alpaca yarn is kind of bumpy. If you like the fabric you are creating with the 8’s then by all means stick to them. No knitting police here.

I have been surfing the net for a scarf pattern for variegated alpaca yarn. The needle size for the yarn is 5-6, but most of the patterns I found for alpaca yarn use much bigger needles.

Does anybody have a scarf pattern for alpaca yarn using 5 or 6 needles and variegated yarn?
