Beret

I want to knit a beret, a very simple pattern, can anyone help me to find it ?

Here’s one

well heck, look what i just got in my e-mail today…

I  the two of them, thank you !

I’d love to do the Lion Brand felted one for my dd, in black or red. I’m just concerned about getting a proper fit, since she’s living overseas right now. She’s petite, with a small head to match. Trying it on myself wouldn’t really help me. I guess I need to look about for someone I know who looks about her size, or head size.

oooooh i think you should ask random strangers that look about her size if you can measure their head! and i think you should film it :roflhard: :roflhard:

Just say you’re with MTV. You’ll get away with anything.

I don’t know. :?? Here in the bible belt, where I live, that would likely go over like a lead baloon (pretending to be MTV). :rofling:

Then say you’re measuring for halos!

:fingerwag: :roflhard:

I saw in Chad Alice Hagens book a photo of a French man holding two traditional berets, one large one before being fulled and the other after. I found it fascinating. So I decided to try my hand at one and I have come across a rather nice hat! I made them both with Pastazza white yarn. The first I made on size 10 needles and the second on 13’s Funny thing, the one knit with 13’s actually came out thicker than the beret knit on 10’s. I also found this picture out on the web and I would love to find a poster of it or perhaps a higher res picture that I could print.

I am going to try it in alpaca next. What do you all think?

I LOVE it!

Thanks Renna, it is really quite nice. I am going to keep it white until I can no longer clean it, then I will dye it black or indigo…
