Hello…

I have just picked up a hook for the very first time…and I bordered one of my knitting projects.

I am curious to start something with crochet…but I am not sure what to start with…

I know I dont want to do a dishcloth…

I am not keen on baby booties…

I am ok with Granny Squares, but don’t know what would be an easy enough design to start with…

Advice?

How about a scarf? I have made two crochets scarves and I love them. I do recommend you doing something flat and square/rectangular (as opposed to a hat or something more complicated). Obviously, it depends on how you feel your skill level is.

This is my experience: after years of knowing how to crochet, I’m still not great at it. My tension is off, sometimes my stitches are bigger or smaller in the same row, and I still twist things around sometimes. I’m very new to knitting, but I am already getting results with knitting that I am much happier with than I have ever been with crochet. Granny squares are supposed to be easy, but I’ve never had much luck with them.

Like I said, it depends on how comfortable you are with crochet at this point, but that’s my thoughts.

Yeah…I am much more happy with Knitting too…but I think I want to clean up my crochet skills a bit so that I can do edging on knitted things…and I don’t want to feel like I am completely restricted to knitting if I find a cool pattern on the other side!
