How about a scarf? I have made two crochets scarves and I love them. I do recommend you doing something flat and square/rectangular (as opposed to a hat or something more complicated). Obviously, it depends on how you feel your skill level is.
This is my experience: after years of knowing how to crochet, I’m still not great at it. My tension is off, sometimes my stitches are bigger or smaller in the same row, and I still twist things around sometimes. I’m very new to knitting, but I am already getting results with knitting that I am much happier with than I have ever been with crochet. Granny squares are supposed to be easy, but I’ve never had much luck with them.
Like I said, it depends on how comfortable you are with crochet at this point, but that’s my thoughts.
