Beginner stuck!

First time posting here. I’m confused by these instructions (see image):

Cast on 12 sts.
Knit 3 rows (garter st), noting first row is WS.
1st row: (RS). K2. (yo. P2tog) 4 times. K2.
Rep last row for pat until Scarf measures 57", ending on a WS row.
(…)

I get as far as the 3 wrong-side rows of garter stitches, switch to right-side, and then I do the K2, yarn over P2 together four times, K2.

But that reduces my work to 8 stitches, making it impossible to repeat that row (there aren’t enough stitches left to repeat the row). How am I supposed to repeat a row requiring 12 stitches, when I just reduced it to 8 stitches?

Remember, the yarn over doesn’t use a stitch. It adds a stitch and the purl two together decreases one, so you’ll come out even.

Knit two, yarn over, purl two together, yarn over, purl two together, yarn over, purl two together, yarn over, purl two together, knit two–that makes twelve stitches.

(BTW, if you don’t like purling, you can k2, yo, k2 tog…and it’ll look exactly the same when you’re done.)

Thank you so much! :woohoo:
