Hello! I am knitting a child’s hat with cat ears that I got from a Phentex Merit label. I am working on the back of the hat and I am stuck. The pattern reads:
Cont in stocking st, dec 1 st each end of needle on 9th and following 4th rows until there are 12 stitches
Does this mean that I st st 8 rows and do the decreases on the 9th row. Then, do the decreases on every fourth row following until I have 12 stitches left?
Thank you for the help
Hi and welcome to KH!
That’s precisely correct. So you would decrease at each end, on row 9, 13,17,21 etc until there are 12 sts left. These are adorable hats. Please post a photo if you’d like. We’d love to see the finished hat.
Thank you for the fast response! This is a great site. I’m trying to move past dish cloths and scarves but there are just some things you can’t get from the Idiot’s Guide to Knitting.
the Idiot’s Guide to Knitting That’s what Knitting Help is for me! I love this site!
