Actually, it really[I] isn’t[/I] so funny! My kitty was the source of a knitting incident the other day…
I knitted my mom a cowl as a gift (I’ll try to post some pics after Christmas), and I had it blocking on the floor. My cat loves blankets, towels, really anything on which she can roll around and purr and meow and get your attention. So, yes, she was immediately attracted to this wool-y cowl. I shut her in a room by herself, but I didn’t realize that the door to that room doesn’t stay closed very well! :doh:
Needless to say, she was upstairs, on top of the cowl, and [I]she had snagged it[/I] in a couple of spots, too! :waah: I attempted to patch it as best I could, and I think it will be just fine. Boy, was I glad the damage wasn’t any worse! It’s really just impossible to be mad at an adorable pet, isn’t it?!
Oh my. What a thing to have happen to a Christmas gift. I’m so glad you could repair the damage. Maybe it’s just as well I don’t have pets.
My big tomcat was snuggling next to me the other day while I was knitting. I was in a reverie about something (knitting does that to me!) when I heard him making some biting, chewing noises. I snatched my project up, but, too late! The working yarn was gnawed clear through! And saturated with kitty drool!
I was knitting at DD’s house once and her new kitty and I had to have a discussion about him biting the cable on my needles. I lost my lap warmer but my needles stayed intact.
My daughter’s cat chewed through thte working yarn of a project once. When I got to the chewed slobbery part I realized and then had to pull nearly a foot of yarn out of her throat. Blech! After that I kept my yarn and project in a zipped bag!
And Knitting Gal…we had to put a lock on the outside of my daughters bedroom because her cat knew how to open he door even when it was closed tightly!
Jiminey, after reading this thread I’m so glad I don’t have a cat, and even more glad that my dogs leave my yarn be! 
Wow! I’m glad I don’t have a cat! The dog hair is enough trouble. I do sometimes let them play with knitted swatches that I’m done with. I’m sure one day I’ll regret that!:shifty:

My cat is perma-banned from my knitting room. He was having too much fun in there, as were the dogs. Once I came home to finding a long trail of yarn starting at the foot of the stairs, all the way up them, and down the hall to the room where I keep my knitting things. :roll:
One of the dogs also thought one of my Takumi Clover bamboo straights would make a fine chew toy. I came home to find it in splinters on the kitchen floor. Needless to say, that was the last straw.
Nothing like knitting when there are mischievous cats and kittens around. My new kitten, Vanille, thinks she has to help the tension by holding it down with her paw. Plus she’ll unwrap the yarn balls my wife has wrapped up, much to her loud complaints. Once my wife has it wrapped again, it gets unwrapped in a hurry.:roflhard:
Oh, I love my kitty. I am very fortunate that she is not one to be interested in anything knitting, and at 15 years old, I think she’s a bit long in the tooth to be learning any new tricks.
She does make a very nice lap warmer! It can be challenging knitting with her in my lap and depending on the project, lap time can be quite limited.
Is your kitty fluffy, Claire? If so, I would imagine that having her warm your lap while doing a project would make for work that is a little fuzzier than originally wanted. :teehee:
Haha! I know the feeling. One time I had my dog napping in my lap and my computer with a knitting pattern balanced on my leg while I was knitting.:teehee:
This reminds me of my kitty 
She is pretty good when we’re up, but when we go to bed, she’ll get into trouble. She’s not very fluffy, and in fact, I end up with more of my hair than anything else in my knitting projects :teehee:
