Bear Claw Afghan

Hello everybody! Nice to meet you all!

I just completed this afghan in the Bear Claw pattern. The neat thing about it is that the reverse shows a fan pattern… :XX: I folded it so you can see both sides.

Ooh thats lovely! :inlove:

thank you! If anyone wants the pattern, I’ll be glad to post it… :XX:

That’s gorgeous!!! :inlove:

How long did it take you to make it?

Beautiful!! Did you have a specific pattern for it or did you just do the stitch?

Oh, that is so pretty! How big is it?

Thanks Jenelle. Thanks you all.

Though not difficult, [it’s a K, P & YO pattern] you must concentrate on what you are doing… I frogged it 8 times before decided to knit when I was the only one in the room! L It didn’t take all that long to do, once I eliminated the distractions.
I distract easily now… I’m getting old!.. chuckle

The Pattern calls for #8 needles but I used number 9 Straight needles, I liked it better… and I used Red Heart Super Saver… that is what my husband wanted, He picked the yarn and the color.

Throw measures approximately 44 inches x 60 inches.
Gauge: One repeat of 18 sts = 5 ¼-inch, 21 rows=4 inches in pat. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain gauge.

Cast on 152 sts. K 6 rows for lower border. Now work in pat as follows:

Row 1 (Right Side): K4, * K1, yo, [K1, P3] 4 times, K1, yo; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4 - 168 sts.

Row 2: K4, * P2, [K3, P1] 4 times, P2; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4.

Row 3: K4, * K2, yo, [K1, P3] 4 times, K1, yo, K1; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4 - 184 sts.

Row 4: K4, * P3, [K3, P1] 4 times, P3; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4.

Row 5: K4, * K3, yo, [K1, P3] 4 times, K1, yo, K2; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4 - 200 sts.

Row 6: K4, * P4, [K3, P1] 4 times, P4; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4.

Row 7: K4, * K4, yo, [K1, P2tog, P1] 4 times, K1, yo, K3; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4 - 184 sts.

Row 8: K4, * P5, [K2, P1] 4 times, P5; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4.

Row 9: K4, * K5, yo, [K1, P2tog] 4 times, K1, yo, K4; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4 - 168 sts.

Row 10: K4, * P6, [K1, P1] 4 times, P6; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4.

Row 11: K4, * K6, yo, [sl l, K1, psso] 4 times, K1, yo, K5; rep from * to last 4 sts; K4 - 152 sts.

Row 12: K4, P to last 4 sts; K4.
Rep Rows 1-12 until approximately 59 inches from beg, end Row 11. K 6 rows for top border. Bind off loosely in K.

Oooooo :inlove: Thanks for the pattern! That is gorgeous!

:inlove: Beautiful!!! Thanks for posting the pattern!

That’s beautiful, such even stitches! You did a great job.

Thanks for the pattern, it’s going on my list!

OHH, I’m so excited you posted the pattern - I’ve been looking for a nice pattern to make a afghan for my mother for Christmas - this would be perfect! Its just beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

:cheering: :cheering: GORGEOUS :cheering: :cheering:

TY for posting the pattern! I’ve been looking for a nice, lacey afghan that wouldn’t cost me an arm & a leg to knit it. I think this may be the one!!

Adriana, that is GORGEOUS! That is definitely a family heirloom. Congratulations! :inlove:

This is the previous project…
It’s made with TLC essentials ( like Red Heart Supersaver…but I think is better…and about the same price)…She loves this afghan pattern!
Sometimes simple knit pearl combos are just so pretty.

This is what I consider an heirloom. I made this around 30 years ago.
It’s crocheted…but, my preference has always been knitting… :XX:

All of them are gorgeous~
What abounding satisfaction you must have every time you look at one, and receive a compliment on how incredibly beautiful they are.
Thank you for posting the Bear Claw pattern, I’ve printed it as one of my future projects. Could I ask how many skeins of SuperSaver it took to complete?
Also I think the pattern looks much like the one they were trying to make for this Ferragamo purse.

You really do have incredible talent. Thank you for sharing it here.

:inlove: That is so pretty I saved a copy of the pattern thank you for sharing it with us…

Indian Princess… I really don’t remember how many skeins…I purchased a whole bunch when it was on sale, but the good part of Super Saver, and of TLC Essentials, is that you don’t have to worry about dye lots.

However, if you go to this link, all the information on this is posted.
