Basic sock for knit picks essential yarn

I know yall love yer socks and are willing to help the pattern impared.
I have 4 skeins knit picks essential yarn and sizes 2.5 dpns.
I have sockulator soft ware, but the reccomended cast on seems so BIG to me! I am wanting a no fuss basic sock pattern. Help please?
