Barbara Walker

Whys it so hard to find her books? Or actulally why are her books so expensive when you do find them?

I found one of her treasuries at Amazon used books. I don’t remember the price off hand, but it wasn’t expensive. I probably can check when I get home.

I just checked Amazon and they have them at $30 each, which isn’t too out of line compared to other books. I have “Charted Knitting Designs” - the 3rd one - and LOVE it!

They went out of print for a long time and so became quite rare and expensive. The good news is that they are now back in print with Schoolhouse Press.
You can buy them now anytime at Knitpicks! They are in the range of $27.00 there, I believe. I just bought the first and second ones a few months ago. True, they are softcover and the illustrations are not in color, but it’s still the same books! :happydance:

OK I just didn’t look hard enuf

I got incredibly lucky in December.

My DM volunteers at the used bookstore run by the Friends of the Library here, and when I stopped in one day she said, “Do you think you might use this?” It was the 2nd Treasury, priced at $1.75.

I bought it.

To tell the truth I was such a newbie (not that I’m not still one) that I didn’t understand what I had for a couple of months. Now I know that I got gold!

Hooray for DM! Gonna have to make her several truly splendid gifts featuring these patterns.
