The sweater i am knitting is almost complete except for 3 garter stitch ridges that i am supposed to add to both sides down the front of the sweater. The pattern calls for me to pick up 3 stitches for every 4 rows & then knit the 3 ridges then bind off. Problem is, after binding off, instead of the bands hanging straight, there is a curve almost like the bands are shorter than the rest of the sweater. What am i doing wrong??
You’re probably not picking up enough stitches. Pick up a stitch in 3 consecutive rows, then skip a row - repeat. If that’s what you did, then you need to figure out how to get more sts on the bands. If you slipped the edge sts, they span 2 rows, so if you pick up in 3 slipped edge sts and skipped the 4th, then you’ve got half as many sts as you need.
Thanks, I’ll give that a try. This is a neat forum. Just discovered it.
