Banaue Breeze pattern help

This pattern calls for 40" circular needles, but after having provisionally cast on the required 120 stitches to join and start the 1st round, the cables are so much longer than the length of
stitches. What to do? The garment is loose fitting, knit sideways and starts w/ the armhole.

Do you have a shorter length circular? I would transfer the sts to a circular of shorter length. You may only need this needle for a brief time and then perhaps you can switch to the longer needle. I notice that the pattern also calls for a spare needle that may be a shorter length.
What a perfect top for the tropics.

ETA: @Jan_in_CA, do you think this amount of sts would work for magic loop?

@salmonmac @avporter I don’t see why not. In fact that may be why they have you use such a long circular. I prefer a longer circular for magic loop because I like having the two loops and I find it helps at the joins. If it’s knit flat then you probably don’t need that long a cable till there are more stitches.

Thanks, Can I use the crochet provisional cast on w/ the Magic Loop?

Sure, you can use any cast on. Have you used circular needles before?
