Ball Winder question

Hi!

Would anyone be able to comment on the pros and cons of the two ball winders currently being offered at JoAnn.com?

there’s thisone for $50 and there’s thisone for $34

I am going to use a 50% off coupon so I’m not concerned about the price, just wondering what the differences are

any help would be great!

I have the $50 one. I chose that one over the less expensive one because it clamps to the table. I think the one without the clamp would scoot allover the table while winding and that would drive me nuts if I had to hold it still.

this probably doesn’t help but FWIW: I don’t know anything about the $34 one mine looks exactly like the $50 one. I love it.

I have the $34 one from Joann’s. I love it. It also clamps to the table and works great. I also used a 50% off coupon so it only cost me 16.99. great deal.

I just ordered the $34.00 one and it’s taking FOREVER to arrive (check out my blog on how I became my dog over the durn thing…it hasn’t actually gotten here–the end of my blog post was just for fun–sort of an imagined ending). I expect it any day now–I’ll let you know how I like it. I didn’t notice a difference between the two–I hope the cheaper one really does clamp to the table…if not, I hope dh doesn’t mind holding the winder while he watches TV :roflhard:

I’d been warned not to get the red one, but to be sure and get the blue Royal brand. Supposedly the red one was inferior quality? But lots of people have them, so who knows.

Cristy I just read your blog - and I’m afraid I will develop the same problem - but I can’t get packages delivered to my apartment, so they all go to my parents house where I’m headed this weekend - I don’t think my winder will be there by then :crying:

but I loved the part where you “repeat between the *s” :lol:

[color=blueviolet]I’m pretty sure, based on the research I’ve done, Lacis manufactures the “Royal brand” and their generic red one. Your only paying for color and the Royal brand name when you buy that one. Go here, type in “ball winder”, and here to check it out. They even come in the same box. The red one does have a clamp. That’s what the red knob on the top is for. A lot of companies have their name on stuff they didn’t actually make. I see it all the time in the tech world. I bought the generic red one for $26.95 at Knitting-Warehouse.com and I couldn’t be happier.[/color]
