Hello,
I am wanting to make several small balls or bobbles (1-2 in. in diameter) to finish off a knitted scarf project. I want to just sew them on in various places–could someone tell me how to make them?
Thanks
You don’t have to make them seperately and sew them on, you can knit them right into your scarf. Here is one way to make them:

Well, it sounds like the scarf is finished, which is why you want to sew on the bobbles rather than incorporate them into the knitting, sooo… how about adding crochet buttons or pompons?
Thanks for the replies…The scarf is finished, so I can’t knit them in—and I don’t know how to crochet
Here’s an idea for you.

Instead of using a glass ball, just use a bit of stuffing, ie cotton ball, wound up bit of leftover yarn, fiber, etc, for the filling, and then once you have as many as you would like, attach, or make an icord to let them dangle.
