Baffled - k3, inc1 x 6, k3 (18sts). Ss 7 rows???

Hi, it’s my first time reading a knitting pattern. Trying to conquer Charlie the stegosaurus but having difficult deciphering the instructions!!
I understand cast on 6 sts followed by P 1 row.

But not sure if I have deciphered the next instruction correctly.

Next row: inc1 to end. (12 sts)
Ss (stockinette) 7 rows
First qu. Am I correct in thinking that I’ll be adding an extra stitch on each row. So by the end of 7 rows I should have 12 sts on the needle?

The next steps are;
Next row: K3, inc 1 x 6, K3. (18sts)
Ss 7 rows.
Next row: K3, inc1,K1 x 6, K3 (24 sts)

This has just thrown me completely! Help please!!

Thank you in advance,
M

Hi, For the first increase row you’ll increase 1 in every stitch so 6sts become 12sts. You then work 7 rows in stockinette.
For the next increase row you will K3, increase 1 in each of the foll 6 sts, K3 = 18sts
St.st 7 rows
Next increase row you will K3, {increase 1 in next st, K1} repeat 6 times,K3 = 24sts.
Does it say to increase using KFB (knit into the front and back of the same stitch) or some other way ?
Hoping this helps, enjoy your knitting.
Linda

Thank you so much!! Yes the instructions call for a knit in front and back of the stitch (which I think is KFB?). I’ve spent all day knitting and unknitting but i am enjoying!

Well done for persevering :grinning:
If there are any other confusing bits, just ask again and me or someone else will try and help you decipher it lol
Good luck with your project
