Baby Yarn Fingerling

Morning…
Starting to make some baby socks… just found out my daughter is pregnant with her first child. So its time to put the adult socks away and start them toddler socks.
So… whats the difference between fingerling, baby and sock yarn.
How interchangable are they? I want to make these toddler socks I seen on some site, and I want them to be durable as well.
Not liking to many of the infant socks I see, they dont seem very defined.

It’s fingering with no L, and they’re usually all pretty close to the same weight, some may be thinner or thicker than others. Sock yarn usually has nylon added to it for longer wearing for the socks, but probably isn’t a factor in baby socks.
