Baby sweater in modified garter stitch?

The local yarn shop has this baby sweater on display. The pattern comes free with the yarn, but they are out of the yarn. I understand the owner is retiring and not ordering any more stock. Can anyone tell me what kind of yarn (it’s sock yarn, I think), how much and where to get the pattern?

The sweater is done with just side and underarm seams. I looks like garter stitch with every other row purled.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

The pattern may be one that someone did in the shop in which case you probably can’t find it online. Call or go in and ask them about it.

I know I’ve seen a pattern similar to that somewhere, but can’t find it right now…

Looks like you start at one cuff, knit the sleeve, add sts for the body, shape neck, work fronts and back, BO sts for the other sleeve. The pattern is garter ridges, or extended garter st.

R 1 - knit
R 2 - purl
R 3 - knit
R 4 - knit

Repeat the 4 rows.

Oh here is one that is a similar shape.

This one has the same sideways knit and could be modified I think.

I’d just go into the store and have a friendly chat with them, tell them you love the cardi and want to knit it… and since that yarn is no longer available there, is there an equivalent yarn you can buy from them and receive the pattern with that yarn instead. Or ask if you can buy the pattern from them.

Perhaps you’ve already tried that?.. but its the first thing I’d do.

Thanks for the replies, ladies.

I DO plan to go back and talk to the shop owner again. She was not very receptive when I originally saw the jacket.

I appreciate your help and taking the time to give me sites to check!
