Baby socks cont

Thanks to all who helped me sizing my baby socks. You can check out a picture here:

The next question is about the heel. I always end up with holes up one side of the gusset. I try to do it nice and tight but they seem sort of “built in” so every sock pattern I’ve tried. Sewing them up isn’t a problem, but is it possible to make a heel without holes? I should mention I’m knitting socks with a turning heel gusset, not the socks with the heel flap where you’re required to pick up stitches.

I have never knit socks yet, so I can’t tell you how to fix the hole, but I can tell you that those socks are VERY cute! I am thinking of making socks my summer projects.

I got a reply from the web page of the pattern I used (www.p2designs.com), and the woman said to make sure I tighten the last stitch before wrapping and slipping the following stich (all of this in the gusset). It seems to minimize the holes but not get rid of them :??
