I’m very new with crochet.
I have only crocheted an easy headband so far.
I would l LOVE to crochet this hat I have linked below.
could someone please explain it or possibly make a follow along video for me please!? My baby will be here in a month and I would love to have this for her

If the magic ring gives you too much trouble there is another way to start it using a chain. This video is supposed to show both methods both but I haven’t watched it. Making a video for a pattern like this would be really above and beyond. Everything you need is already available, just not all in one video. Get started and when you need help ask. I think the hat is adorable and you should be able to do it.

I think someone has already made a tutorial for this hat (or something very close to it). Check this link. You’ll need to start with this video for the basic beanie, and then the other tutorial will show you how to make the butterfly. The one here is not a newborn size, but all you need to do is adjust the number of stitches.
Edit: these videos use half double crochets instead of double crochets like the written pattern there. However, I made one using double crochets so it’s just a matter of preference. If you want to use double crochets, she has this video for the first part of the hat.
She also has tutorials on sizing for newborn through adult.

A third method for beginning to crochet in the round is the Chain Two method. I use this all the time. The hole is closed up and stays closed.
