Baby Kimono question (Mason Dixon Knitting)

I’m making the baby kimono from Mason Dixon Knitting. I have a question:

the pattern says:

Continue unil the left front is 40 stitches, and until , when the sleeve is folded in half the kimono front is the same length as the back. BO all stitches.

Here is my question. Apparently I knitted the back portion 5" not 4", so when I get to 40 stitches the front will not be long enough. But if I keep increasing at the edge, it will be too wide for the inside of the kimono. So should I stop increasing? Or should I YO and p2tog, to keep the eyelet in the same place, but not continue the increase…Hope this makes sense.

I think you might have to end the decreases before you get the length or you are right, it will get too wide. Just keep folding it over and checking the width as you knit. When you get the crossover to where you like it, stop the increases and just knit til you get the length you need.

Hope this makes sense!

I think that sounds right…get to the 40 stitches and just make the length even.

I have another question about that kimono…I bound off thinking I’d gotten it even, but when I fold it up to sew the edges, it’s actually too short on one side. Can I pick up stitches and just lengthen it, or will that look too weird? Can you undo a bind-off and knit some more? I’ve never tried that, and it sounds a little daunting.

yes, you should be able to tink the bind-off. just find that tail thread, undo the knot and start tinking. it shouldn’t take too long. i love that pattern!

Thanks!!!
