Woo Hoo! Time to knit fast, fun, soft, squishy baby hats again!
:cheering: :woohoo: :cheering:
We have until the end of February to make as many little baby hats as we can. The hats will keep newborn babies in developing countries warm and healthy.

Save the Children and the Warm Up America! Foundation are asking Americans across the country to pick up your knitting needles and crochet hooks to help save the lives of nearly four million newborn babies in the developing world.
The Caps for Good grassroots initiative will be running from September 2010 through February, 2011 encouraging citizens of all ages to participate by making a cap and advocating and fundraising to provide newborn care in developing countries.

At the end of the program, caps will be distributed to pregnant women and new moms and their babies in Save the Children’s programs in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

I’m planning on making some knitted AND crocheted hats, using some very soft baby yarn in my stash. Fun & quick knitting - and for a great cause.
Who’s joining me?

I just finished a neon orange crocheted hat–very quick work (about 15 minutes).

Now I’m knitting a bright lime green one, but it will take much longer since I’m a slow knitter!

I have made several hats, and Now i just bought a POUND of yarn, which i am making baby hats out of all of it!

I have knit and crochet a combination of 12 for this charity. I just need to get them in the mail.

Great work, everyone! :woohoo:

I think it’s great that we can make one baby warmer with less than an hour of work. cloud9

Because I made baby hats last year WUA Caps for Good sent me a postcard when the current campaign began. I was able to get a dozen baby hats sent off before the holidays and have already received a thank you card.

I posted a photo of the hats in Whatcha’ Knitting…
