Baby Cardigan Sweater

Hello all:
I’m working on my first ever sweater, it’s actually the “Baby’s First Tattoo” sweater from Stitch N Bitch Nation and I’ve come upon a problem I hope someone can help me with. I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I’ve been searching for a few days but haven’t been able to find any answers, so here goes!

I finished the back panel without any problems and have moved onto the front left panel. The sweater is “outlined” with an accent color along all edges, so when working the front panels I have to constantly change colors at the beginning (or end) of each row. Instead of cutting the yarn and tying a knot each time I have to change colors, I’d like to do the “thing” where the second color is constantly attached so all I’d have to do is pick up that second color when I come to the end of a row. I really hope this makes sense!

Thanks!

That shouldn’t be a problem. Just use a separate piece of yarn for each end of the row for example: one piece of blue yarn knit edge sts blue, leave yarn hanging, pick up main color knit to beginning of color change, add seperate piece of blue edge yarn. Just change colors as you normally would by beginning to knit with the new color and weave in later.

To avoid holes when you switch colors, hold the yarn you’re done with over to the left against your needle and start with the new color. If you do this every row, the yarn will twist. If this explanation isn’t clear, check out the color change in the intarsia video.

Thanks so much for the advice. I’ll give it a try!

hey i am making this sweater too and having the same problem if i can figure it out i will let you know!

Thanks Kelsey!
