I am trying to make these booties and am not sure what this means:
Next round (set up round):Knitt 22, M1, turn
Next row (purl short row):Slip 1 as to purl,P8, M1, turn
Next row (knit short row):Slip 1 as to purl,K8, M1, turn
Work these two rows until there are a total of 52 stitches
After I knitt 22, M1 do I only work with the stitches on what is my 2nd of 3 dpn’s?
Any help or suggested videos would be greatly appreciated. I am pretty new at this knitting baby items.
A short row is shorter than a regular row and only is worked on part of the stitches. It’s used for shaping.
Yes, you work whatever number of stitches it tells you to work. It’ll make more sense as you do it. I would probably move them to only one dpn, but do whatever works for you.
There are several ways of working short rows…without a pattern name and link I don’t want to show you a video because it may be a different method.
Hi Jan,
Thank you. I’m still unsure what to do. The pattern I’m working with is on the knittinghelp.com site, free patterns, baby socks and boots, baby booties without seams. When you click on that item it shows a pair of blue booties worked from the toe up; if you read the description you will see that she links to a site that has the same booties worked from the top down. That’s the one I’m using. If you have time and could follow this through for me I’d appreciate. Thanks again.
Hi again Jan,
I’m sorry the link I gave was incorrect. The pattern can be found on knittingpatterncentral.com. The rest of the instructions to find the pattern are correct. Sorry. If you like you can email me at judie@weekendsru.com
