Attempting my first hat, what length needle

Hello all, I haven’t knitted in over 20 years and a friend of my recently got me interested in it by making the fun fur scarves. Our chruch will be doing a fundraiser for the community and I’m making the scarves for them to sell. I am interested in making hats to go with the scarves and have looked at the video about circular knitting. The pattern I am using is the chemo hat on this website but do not know what length of circular needle i need to use. I have a 29" but it doesn’s seem to be working for me. If you could help, I would be greatful.

Thank you and Have a Blessed Day
Vicki

For an adult sized hat I think most people use a 16" circular, but at some point you’ll still need to switch to double-pointed needles or the two circular needles technique as you decrease.

Welcome! :waving:

I’ve used a 16" circ and then switched to dpns, but I know it can be done all on dpns if you have 5 of them (you’ll need 4 to hold the stitches for an adult hat).
