Hi,
First day on website and here I go. I am knitting a baby sweater in the round. I knit the 2 sleeves (flat) first, then body of sweater from bottom up. Directions now say - sweater body and RS facing, K across sts of 1 sleeve, place marker, Kacross sts for front, place marker, K across sts of 2nd sleeve. i don’t get the knit across sleeve part, do I knit the stitches of sweater and stitches of sleeve together as one?..
Welcome!
Yes, you’ll be joining the sleeves to the body at this point, and then do the raglan decreases up to the neck.
by joining them do you mean to knit them together onto one needle or sewing them together?
They’ll be knit together. All the pieces will be connected in the order where they belong to make the sweater, and you’ll be working the sweater in one piece at this point.
You don’t knit the stitches together, together… Knit the sleeve stitches, then continuing on the same needle knit the front sts, then the other sleeve sts, then the back sts. At this point they’ll all be attached by that one row. Maybe the diagram at the bottom of the page in this pattern - http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall02/PATTtopsecret.html will help you visualize it better. The line at the underarm is where you’re attaching the sleeves and the body.
