I’m pretty new to knitting. How do you attach the band to the neck. My pattern in telling me to st 14 stitches into my shoulder seam, after I’ve already made the seam. So where do I get these 14 stitches and how?

They probably want you to pick up stitches along the edge. There is a video about picking up stitches above that you might want to check out. Much easier than trying to follow only written directions.
Can you copy that portion of the pattern exactly? Or is “stitch 14 stitches into the shoulder seam” verbatim?
