how do you attach the knit tulip border to the tree of life baby blanket as you knit it rather than sew on after?
attaching border tree of life baby blanket
Welcome to the forum!
Iāve made this blanket and used a stitch like the Bickford seam to attach the border as I knit it. Knit a few inches, continue the seam and repeat. This is what the instructions are getting at.
The technique starts at about 4:30 min.
You might be able to adapt the following technique for adding the border as you knit it. This is for an applied I-cord but it might be used for any border. You would pick up a stitch on the main body of the blanket and knit it together with the border itself.
Thanks for the response. Iām still not sure how this works. Say I do about 4 inches of border. At what point do I stitch it to blanket. I was hoping there was a way to start on the edge of blanket and begin knitting border as it continues to be attached as you knit along. Iām afraid f making border to long tho around then have done border left over. Hope Iām making sense.
Yes, I was worried about the same thing, knitting the border, maybe having to pin it on, not enough border, too much border. I knit about 6 inches, seamed almost all of it to the blanket and then picked up the knitting needles and knit about another 6". Leave the sewing yarn attached so you can just keep going back to it and continuing to seam.
I guess Iāll try it that way. Wish it could have been written into the patter and not separate border Wish me luck. Lol
This blanket works out so beautifully in the end. Enjoy working it!
