Libbie it looks great. did you do button holes or are you going to make the little loop buttone holes, not sure what the right name is.
My sleeves are about half done, are doing them two at a time.

BEAUTIFUL!!!
I didnāt do buttonholes because I was thinking Iād prefer the loops (not sure what the right name is either haha). After trying it on, I
think Iām only going to do maybe 2 or 3 buttons in the upper area and
just leave the bottom open. I think Iāll get more use out of it that
way. Iām so glad I took two inches out of the sleeve length because
even with that I have to flip the cuffs up!
Sending you fast knitting vibes ooga-booga haha

Hi Libbie!
Your CPH is really really gorgeous! I love your modifications! They must have been a lot of extra work and noodling with numbers! I congratulate your bravery, and your abilities!
Good work!
Hehe, Iād love to take the credit for it but the idea came from this blog:
and Karina, who helped me to get it all started. Thanks Karina!
I changed the center cable from the one used on the blog so it actually
required less mods than what the blog instructions indicated. The
cables on the sleeves required only 2 more stitches than the original
CPH. The fronts had 4 extra sts and the back 6. It was a small
enough amount that there was no real fiddling required except
for making sure the ribbing would come out correctly.

I knew about Lisa Kay Knitsā¦but I still congratulate your application of her modifications! I looked at her blog a coupla months agoā¦and it still requires some tinkering and noodling with figures to make it work for my size. I still havenāt summoned up the courage to launch into it! After that RICK RYAN JACKET I designed for my brother, I am sticking to regular patterns for the time being!
It was so nice of Lisa Kay to share her modifications with us, wasnāt it?! She is a very caring, sharing person! Thanks, Lisa!
Her blog is very helpful, and she didnāt leave anything out!
Iām about to cast on for the CPH! I know this KAL is probably defunct, but yāall did some BEAUTIFUL work!!!
Hi Gina!
Noā¦it is not defunctā¦not as long as I am alive and have internet access! I am here to help you. I hope you will knit your CPH using the pattern directions. That is all I know to help with. There were tons of modifications (some very beautiful ones!)ā¦but I didnāt follow those at all.
If you are going to modify the patternā¦there are lots of notes in the Central Park Hoodie Group over at Ravelry.
I didnāt modify either one of my CPHās. I am a follower.
I like the pattern AS IS! And I dontā believe in knitting in the round when the pattern says knit the pieces flatā¦nor do I think you should knit the fronts and back all in one piece up to the armhole shaping to avoid side seaming.
That just trades one challenge for another challenge. And the result is actually trickier to execute!
Let me know when youāre ready to begin!
Iāll be available til this Sundayā¦and Iāll be off the grid for one week in the mountaines with DHā¦and home the following Sunday, the 19th of October.
Hugs,
Artlady
Hi Gina!
If you are planning to start a CPH, Iād be happy to offer any tips or
advice I learned along the way doing mine I did modify the cables
on mine so can help out if you decide you want to do that!
I followed ArtLadyās advice and didnāt do mine in the round like some
on the Ravelry group did. I had no trouble with the seaming and
since I made a plus size and it is kind of heavy (alot of yarn!) the
seams help to give it some structure when Iām wearing it.
Probably the only thing Iād change from what I did, is Iād do the
short rows on the shoulders and use a three needle bind off rather
than the kind of āstair steppingā bind off and then seam together.

Hi Libbie! :waving:
Thanks for offering to help with our newest CPH!
So generous of you!

Oooh! Now Iām REALLY excited! I plan to do my first CPH as instructed. Iām using Kathmandu DK and my gauge is right on with a US 9 needle. Does that sound about right? I have other yarn that Iād like to do the Viking edition, but I think Iāll do the pattern as-is first. I donāt mind seaming at all, and I prefer to frog less than more, so thatās another reason to do the pattern as written!
I read this whole forum awhile back and donāt have time to re-read before I go out of town tomorrow. Any quick tips for starting? I plan to knit the first stitch of every row. Anything else I should do right off the bat?
Thanks SO much for your help!
Good for you! I love the Kathmandu DK!
Prolly doesnāt need saying, but, use stitch makers across the rows! I do. I never trust myself to āeyeball itā across row after row after row! Better to slide markers now than to frog later!
Knit on Good Woman!
Thanks! I already have an inch of ribbing done for the back!:cheering: I wonāt have time to knit again until I get to the airport tomorrow, so Iām packing my stitch markers and cable needle in my carry-on.
:woot:
Hey guys= maybe we can start a little KAL group with those of us making it now. I have wanted to make it forever!
I need to buy the pattern & yarn. I must say itās a sigh of relief to know that I am safe with knowing knitters to help if I get stuck!
Come on board, Renee! It will be fun to have someone doing it with me! Webs has some great yarns on sale! (I donāt have an LYS, so I buy online.) Of course, then it will take a few days to get it, but youāll catch up fast!
Plus, I have been toying around with the idea of making another CPH for myself! Yup, I like this little sweater THAT MUCH!
I must say, I really really really like a ZIPPER application.
Itā s a bit of tricky, fussing & tinkering around to get the zipper positioned just right and basted into place so that you can hand stitch it into placeā¦but worth the extra effort.
I also knit some facings and stitched them down to the underneath side of the zipper. I really like that. It improved the functionality and appearance of my zipper 200%!
When time comes for yāall to make a decision about buttons, zipper or nothing at allā¦weāll discuss the options. I canāt remember now if I took photos of my facings or not. But, if anyone is installing a zipper I will take photos for ya.
A zipper seems so appropriate for a casual hoodie.
I think the buttons are nice if you want to cardigan-ize it. Kinda dresses it up.
The model CPH has nothing at allā¦no zipper, no buttons.
I like that look, too. But for our weather here in Washington Stateā¦I need some kind of closure system!
Artlady, where do you live in WA? I grew up in Puyallup. My sister lives on Couger Mtn. (Issaquah area) and my folks live on Gig Harbor. I, of course, am thousands of miles away in Texas.
DH and I grew up in the same Seattle neighborhoodā¦5 houses apartā¦and as a married couple we lived in South Seattle from 1971-1999. In 1999, we moved (just the two of us now) to Kent, Waā¦which you prolly know is just south of Renton, Waā¦which is just south of South Seattle! We havenāt gone far, have we? All of our 5 married children are right in this area, too. Tacoma, Renton, Kent, Seattle.
I am very familiar with Puyallup. And, of course, Cougar Mountain, which is also close to Renton on the other side!
Oh yes, and of course, not to forget, beautiful Gig Harbor. Since the building of a sister bridge by the old Tacoma Narrowsā¦there is a toll to cross now. It is prohibitive for leisure travel. So we donāt go over to that area for sightseeing, shopping, etc. as much anymore.
The zipper is really quite easy to do, I have put a zipper in all the ones I have done.
I hope to be starting my CPH (#3) with the cable modifications in the next couple weeks. Finishing up Bettna and itās next on the list (along with my current Norwegian Steeks sweater-which is a class so I only do so much each week).
