Armwarmers

My friend asked me to make him some armwarmers. I don’t know how to know how much to knit so they fit just right.

How can you tell with those types of things?

I dont know about the arm warmers - but I love your screen name :rofling:

hehe, thanks! <3

Go here

and type in “arm warmers” in the search window.

 your name too!

eh. Thats not really what Im looking for…
Thanks, though

I’m not sure what you mean by arm warmers–like sleeves without the sweater?

lol yes. these are supposed to be from wrist to elbow types.

I just wondered how I would know how much to knit and where to increase if I needed. becauseof how your arm gets bigger.

I suppose i could knit it in short sections? one for the size of your wrist, then so on and so on.

If you did it in ribbing, you’d probably get a better fit because of the stretchiness. Most sleeve patterns increase from the wrist at a rate of two stitches every 4-5 rows, so if you start at the wrist and keep trying it on, you could use that as a guideline.

This guys arm is a bit bigger than mine. I had him measure around at his wrist, elbow and in the middle though. and I have an idea of how long he wants it. so. just do it in loose ribbing, I suppose?

That’s what I would try.

Arm warmers are called SLEEVES. Throw that in Google and see what you come up with.

Here is a simple pattern you might be able to modify.

I’m wondering if maybe you could take a basic men’s sweater pattern (size large or whatever size should fit) and just knit the sleeves in the round then bind off when they reach to the elbow?

hm.
That might be a good idea…

thanks bjc1050

Maybe just make a long tube in ribbing with a thumb hole :??

Have you checked out the free patterns that hang around the yarn? OK, took me a minute but I went and got my freebie and then found it on their site. These ‘wrist warmers’ are not at all girlie and can be worn by either sex. Whatcha think?

I had to sign up to see it. but I think that will be really helpful. thank you!

I do check on the free pattern sheets at the store I go to. I go to the same store all the time though and I checked there. They didnt have any on armwarmers
