Hey fellow knitters! I’m a newbie at knitting & in this forum…wondered if I could ask for some help?
I’m knitting a cardigan & am working on the left front. I’ve reached armhole shaping instructions & understand I’m decreasing only on one side although I’m following shaping instructions for shaping the back of the sweater which decreased on both sides to shape armholes. Here are shaping inst for back:
Bind off 7 sts at beg of next 2 rows. (For left front pc I bound off on beg of RS row only then worked the next row even till I was back to beginning my RS row)
Dec 1 st each side of every row 6 times (I decreased on RS rows only 6 times which equaled 12 knitted rows), then every other row 6 times, every 4th row twice - 106 sts. Work even until armhole measures 81/2".
What I need clarification on is the part in red. Since I’m only decreasing on one side (RS) every other RS row, does this mean I’m decreasing every four rows? (Dec RS knit to end, knit WS even, knit RS even, knit WS even, dec RS).
Here are inst for shaping left front:
Shape armhole at underarm edge same as back - 53 sts (from 74). Work even until armhole measures 7", end with a RS row.
And does the same apply for the decrease every 4th row twice? Does that mean I’ll actually decrease every 8th row?
Thanks in advance for clarification. I love learning to knit!
