Armhole shaping

Just a little puzzled :?? I was wonder if I had done something wrong or not. The pattern says to cast on 70 sts which I did and knitted it all in st st
I am supose to have 70 sts left on my neddle before doing armhole shaping. Which I have. Now I supose to cast off 3 sts, beg next 2 rows than I will be left with 64 sts. Cast off means the same as bind off right? I just want to be sure. My things is after I cast off of 3 sts. I still have 6 sts over the amout of 64 sts. left.

I was just looking at this pattern again and I think it may be that it has a error there in the pattern.

No, I think the pattern’s right–you bind off (cast off) three stitches at the beginning of the first row, finish the rest of the row, and then bind of three stitches at the beginning of the following row. That’s why it says “beg of next 2 rows” so you are binding off a total of 6 stitches, 3 on each side, leaving you with 64! Hope that makes sense.
