Armhole Shaping Instructions.

Hi,

New knitter here. I have entered the armhole shaping portion of my knitting project and the instructions are as followed below:

Row 1 rs: co 0 (2,2,4,6,8,) sts, pattern to end. 57 (63, 71,77,83,89,) sts
Row 2: Co 0 (2,2,4,6,8,) sts, pattern to end. 57 (61, 69, 73, 77, 81) sts) sts

The numbers in the parenthesis correlate to the sizing i chose. I chose size Small so “2” would be the number of sts i would be casting off
My question is am I casting off 1 sts in the beginning and 1 in the end to make 2,or am I casting off 2 in the beginning and not worrying about how many in the end?

They also have a note:
When casting off in brioche for this project, cast off using a standard knit and purl as they present
themselves and cast off loosely. Use a needle size up if you need to.
Once you reach the arm hole shaping stage of your work, slip the first stitch on every row knit wise
to create a selvedge edge. This will only be stated on the first row of armhole instructions within the
pattern.

My question is, do i apply this note at row 1 or at row 3 when they actually mention the “slip first stitch”

Can you please tell us the name and designer or publisher of your pattern?

Could you double check you have typed out the stitch counts correctly, or upload a photo of that small portion of the pattern?

It seems the stitch counts given are incorrect, as they are identical for all sizes even after you have cast off some number of stitches for all but the smallest size.

How many stitches do you have on the needles for your size before starting these decreases?

(I’ll leave the rest of your question to a brioche expert to answer once the stitch counts are sorted out. I’m sure someone will be along soon to help.)

Name: One Color Brioche Tank Knitting Pattern
Publisher/desginer: MMMaking

You are right i did type the Row 2 incorrectly and have fixed it. I have 65 Sts.

Hello
Row 1 You will cast off 2 sts at the beginning of the row, then work in pattern to the end of the row. Turn.
Row 2. Cast off 2 sts at the beginning of the row, then work in pattern to the end of the row. Turn.

The slip first stitch will relate to row 3 as that is where it is first mentioned, and you will do it on each row from here on.

Maybe this one?

Oh that make sense, I don’t know why that didn’t click to me. Thank you!

Yes, that is the pattern I am making.

The pattern is nice, I like the effect on the armholes.
Hope you’ll post a photo when you’re finished.
