So I am at the decreases for armhole for a jumper (sleeveless dress). It just says decrease each end next row and following 6 rows. So it doesn’t specify what type of decrease. So I’m on the back. So beginning of row should be ssk and end of row will be k2tog. I think that makes it slant correctly. Right?? Also I will do this 1 or 2 stitches in from beginning and end of row. Right?? My next thing will be neck shaping which sounds a little confusing as I read it but I’m hoping when I get there by visualizing it will become clearer. But first need to do this part. I hope I got this right
Armhole decreases
If you’re on the back and the WS is a purl side you might want to consider ssp and p2tog instead. Depends what the fabric is.
And the slant is your choice which way but I think ssk at the beginning and k2tog at the end is common, as you said.
Then on the other side ssp and p2tog.
I agree. In order to maintain the same slant, the edge with the k2tog would have the p2tog. The side with the ssk would have the ssp.
Oh thanks both of you. I hadn’t even given a thought to the wrong side. But that makes sense. That is why checking with someone here before moving on when not sure is such a help!
Totally agree with that. The sweater I made I thought I really knew what I was doing…until I couldn’t even start ha ha. Lucky for me salmonmac pointed me in the right direction.
Great site, so helpful and friendly.
