Arm Hole Shaping Help

I am working on my first ever sweater that has shaping for the arm holes and I’m a bit confused by the pattern. The pattern is visible below:

I have decreased 1 stitch at each end of the next 5 rows, however I am a bit confused on what to do next.

Does this mean I would follow the straight pattern for 3 rows, and then decrease on the 4th row, or does it mean that I would decrease on 3 rows, and then skip the 4th row?

My apologies for the question, the other topics on arm hole shaping did not quite clear up the question for me. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello

After the 5 rows the next part reads
“then on following 4 alternate rows”
Alternate row means every other row.
Call the next row, row 1, and decrease on 2, 4, 6, 8 as these are the alternate rows.

Then the following 4th row, which if you continue counting rows from before this will be row 12.

No need to apologise for asking questions, just ask. I joined this forum this year and have asked lots of questions, it’s a very welcoming and helpful place.

Do ask again if this hasn’t made it clear, or if you have more tricky bits. No point getting frustrated over knitting when there are people who are glad to help.
