Anyone try felting Peer Gynt?

I nearly died today when a comment on my blog post at Team Canada said that Peer Gynt doesn’t felt. The wrapper says 100% wool, and it says to handwash. It was recommended to me by one of the ladies at Ram Wools. The lady that posted said she’s made sweaters in it and that it acted more like a superwash. Does anyone have any experience with this wool?

Oh, and as a side note, would the cream Paton’s Classic Wool be too light to felt as well? This is such an important project to me, I really don’t want it to turn out like garbage.

It’s my intent to knit up some small samples of the yellow PG and the Patons Classic and try to felt them in the laundry tomorrow… but some wise words of experience would be much appreciated here.

I’m really getting nervous here… :oo:

Well can’t really help you, but this says it felts well! Guess it all comes down to the test swatch!

Thanks a bunch! I’ve got the swatches in the washer right now. I’m actually more worried about the Patons at this point, because it’s so pale. The PG was quite scratchy as I knitted the swatch, so I’ve got my money on it that it will felt after all.

Okay, I’m sorry. My first thought when I read this was “Won’t the ink run?”

Silly!

I still can’t get the pics up on my blog, but after the first cycle through the wash, both are shrunk but no felt. I’m running it through another one as I write this…

Editted to add: I’ve got before and after #1 pics up on my blog now.
