Anybody want to get together and knit in the 'burgh?

Of all you knitters, there has to be somebody else here from pittsburgh, pa.!!!

I want to knit together one or two nights a week–would be so much fun!!!

We can sit around, drink coffee or wine–or whatever, and just knit and chat!!!

Awwwww…I wish I lived closer!!! From Phila to Pittsburgh is a little bit too far though… :frowning:

Well darn all those miles in between our cities!!

I have a dear friends that lives in Philly and teaches at temple. I’ll have to tell him I have a long distance knitting buddy there!!!

Happy knitting!

I’m in Mount Pleasant PA. Where in PGH are you?
Kim

I am in Brighton Heights–right over the bridge from McKees Rocks.
Relatively new here–my husband got a job here out of the military about a yr. and a half ago and I have been a student at Pitt ever since. Almost done with my BA and getting ready for law school. How close is Mt. Plsnt. from here?? I am absolutely terrible with where things are–my husband drives everywhere!!! lol. Let me know!
Cass

I’m glad I’m not the only one to live in PA!! Pittsburgh is 4 hours away from where I live :frowning:

Mount Pleasant is about 30 to 45 minutes southeast of Pgh. I went to Pitt too! What are you studying?

Are you by Mancini’s bread??

Hello Kim,

I am a double major in History and Russian at Pitt. I LOVE it --such a great campus and atmosphere there. I am ready to be done with all the undergrad stuff, though…getting a bit old (the subjects–not me!).

Wish you were closer!!! I haven’t been able to find people around here who know of any great yarn stores, so I feel all alone in my knitting!!!

Cass

I’m also about 4 hrs away from you… couldn’t make it every week  LOL… but maybe a KH - PA get- together sometime? Maybe in Harrisburg (is it just me or is it really odd that PA is one of the very few states where the capitol is actually in the middle of the state?? :??)
But, hi anyway :waving: to all the other PA knitters!!

ME ME ME!!! I live in Pittsburgh!!! :waving:

Altho I am MUCH older than you and am new to knitting… but other than that - I think I’m fun

Hm… I actually live near the center of PA… And harrisburg is only an hour away from here, which would be good.

Hm, that would be fun for PA knitters to get together. Maybe my mom would let me go sometime. That’d be fun

Lisa,
I am so encouraged to hear that you live in Pittsburgh. Apparently we are the only two knitters here–lol.

I am relatively new to knitting as well, as I just picked it up about 3 years ago from my mom, who is master of all things needlecraft!!

Seriously, we should get together sometime to knit, it would be a blast!!! Us newbies need to stick together, man!! Besides, we can learn new techniques together.

And I don’t care if you are 140, if you are young at heart you are still young!!!

Get back soon,

Cass

i love the 'burgh!

my mom grew up in McKeesport and White Oak and my grandparents live down in Coulters now. my aunt & cousins live in Coraopolis.

when i lived in Buffalo i tried to visit a lot, but we recently moved to Seattle.

Hey! I live in the North Hills, about 15 minutes from you!

Maybe we can get together for a coffee and see what we can manage. Have you ever been to Dyed in the Wool here in Ross Township? A very nice store to sit and knit at. Or go over to da Rocks and browse Pat Catan’s.

PM me!

Oh darn. Wish I lived there! I was born in PA and I have family in PA, but I’m way out here in Michigan. My biggest reason for replying is to say, “GO STEELERS!!!”

Cass, I have a degree in history. I loved it. Did Pitt’s post grad teaching program. I miss the campus. Mt. Pleasant is soo much smaller than Oakland. Mmm, the O.

I know there is a yarn store in Monroeville. My mom goes there, but I can never make their hours. I will. I’m afraid I’ll go crazy. I can’t go into a store with yarn and come out without some. If your interested in where it is let me know I’ll get you directions.

If we have a PA thing, I’d love to be a part.

I’ve only been knitting about a year and a half, and consider myself fully obsessed.
Kim

Well PA gals close to Pittsburgh–shall we or shall we not get together and knit!!!

Doesn’t have to be every week or anything, but just every now and then if that is what you all are comfortable with.

Post back and let’s see who’s interested and when we’re all available!!

Cass

MrsBear - good to see you - I did pm you awhile back - but with the holidays and all - things got busy.

How about Knit One in Squirrell Hill? They actually have couches there - I think I can call there and “reserve” them for a day if that sounds good - it would be fairly central to everywhere… thoughts?

I remember your note - guess I dropped the ball there. But, yes, that would be fun. Days or evenings? My personal vote is for day, but if my hubby thinks I’ll bring back a Mineo’s pizza, I could do an evening.

I’ll be honest, I doubt if I could go every week, but even just once would be fun.

I would say weekend day - that would be best as I work full-time. I guess we should see what the steelers will be doing!!! Maybe a Sunday Morning?
