My husband and I just bought a house (our first!), and so we’re moving from way-too-expensive Watertown out to Worcester - and we don’t know anything about it! Any good yarn stores I should know about? I’m a new knitter - I started about 2 months ago, and I’m totally hooked. I’ve been taking a beginner’s class and I think I might want to take another one - but I need to find one in Worcester.
Any Worcester, MA knitters out there?
my SiL is having a Show in Amherst (hampshire college I think)
just opened this weekend
She is a knitter too
I bet students there would know

Welcome! You have chosen a knit-rich place to move to!
I’m in Worcester, and there are 3 lovely LYS around here, all of which have been very pleasant places and I think they all have classes (I have taken none, I’m too flaky to get anywhere on time).
Just over the border south of worcester is Classic Yarns of Grafton, they have a website and sounds like lots of classes, very friendly. They are closest to me so I have purchased more there and dropped into their sit and knit hours (held thrice a week).
In western Worcester there is Knitter’s Paradise, on pleasant st near the airport (further from me so I’ve only gone in once but they were nice and so was their yarn).
North, in Holden, there is the Sheep Shack, which I’ve also only stopped into once but is crammed with lovely stuff and seems to have classes.
All three places have inviting spaces for people to come and sit and knit.
There is a yahoogroup in this area which meets weekly for knitting at Borders or some other place which sells coffee. It calls itself the Worcester Area Knitting Guild and I only ever made it once but they are nice people. This link may work to help you find them (my compuskills are questionable). http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Worcester_Area_Knitting_Guild/
You can easily find places to spend all the money you are saving on rent!!!
