Any tips on K4tog

I am a fairly new knitter and am making a baby blanket with light weight yarn on size 5 needles. The pattern (Heavenly Blue Baby Blanket at redheart.com) calls for K4tog. I think my guage is pretty close (not knitting too terribly tight), but every time I get to one of these, it is a struggle to get the RH needle through all 4 stitches. I have tried to use a cable needle to work as a holder, but am looking for any tips you may have. Thanks!

I use a crocht hook to pull the yarn through and then put the loop back on the needle.

I usually will slip 2sts, k2tog, pass the slip sts over the k2tog

I have read that some like to K2tog, place the sts back on left needle and then slip 2 sts over the st…move st back to right needle

Thanks for the hints. Could not find a small crochet hook so I tried both the K2tog stitches. Liked the K2tog, place the sts back on left needle and then slip 2 sts over the st…move st back to right needle the best. Looks the most like what I had already started.

I just cast on for this pattern last night, thanks for asking this same question I was wondering about!

This is one of those cases where it pays to be a knitter on the loose side. I don’t have any trouble with K4 tog. But those ideas of dustinac’s are good to know if you knit tighter.

To Tillie - Keep me posted on your progress! I am pretty busy, so only get a few rows in a day. I would love to hear how quickly you get it done!
