Any Sock KAL

Oh, God, Julie , you just made my day !

Dotty: thanks for the tip…

Dustinac: I’ve been resting all of today, not strolls yet, just knitting on my scarf-may go do a return to WalMart, maybe not.

Steve: can’t wait to hear how you like your goodies from knitpicks, hope you get it soon!

I like that sock too-looks really easy, like a 3x3 rib and then every what 6 rows probably it’s p9 k3? Is that what you got Dotty?

I’ll share as soon as I get it printed up…having to clean my printer heads right now !

hate it when those heads get dirty

But I’m workin’ on it …Crossed Fingers

How is everyone today ?? It is the 14th Nov, Wednesday, a raining morning…

My KP is not here yet …still waiting

dotty - You are fast in the FOs. Great jobs. That red is good. What brand that ?
dustinac - is there any sales in the KP holiday catalog ?
Steve D - Ready, set , go…
Julie - that is a very nice pic of D and J playing there.

keep workin on it Dotty. I took the kids for a 20 min walk around the block and came back about 2 hours ago and still the contractions are about 4-10 min apart, not anything I’ll be going to the hospital for. Sorry Dotty, keep your fingers crossed dustinac.
Dh just got home, you know what that means (supper you dirty minded people-geeze)
Thanks Jackie, it’s Nov 13th here & you guessed it, still no baby.

Y’all are making me crack up!!!:aww::roflhard:

Julie !!! :aww:

I chickened out and went back and edited my risque’ remark !

Still working on the sock pattern…the purls that go over have to be garter stitch or they don’t stand up .

Hi JackieLim !

I’m not seeing any mark downs on the yarn or anything…they do have some new wine glass charms(yes I thought they were sm), a bracelet, earrings, and key ring

I do think the sock deal is ok…you don’t save a whole lot but you do get to chose between 3 different color ways cool, warm, and Neutral…in each sock sampler you get two balls of each:
Felici
Essential Multi
Essential
Essential Twist
Risata
for 41.99

Oh I thought this was a good deal although I haven’t really figured it out what it would be without…but you get a Winter Lodge Kit it comes with enough yarn to make 3 stockings along with the pattern…the yarn is 2 balls each of Shamrock in Doyle, Fitzpatrick and Reilly and one ball of Twirl in Summer Sky…it makes 12" stockings and it’s 17.99

Hereis the link for the samplers and stockings…

It’s basically an issue on fast and quick knits…a lot of mittens and the books you can find them in… some are new to KP and you can buy them…

:yay: Hang in till Friday…no work tomorrow or anything… or Thursday… have dh take off and take care of the kids…not of you… you just sit tight and knit…

dotty

Dustinac: I finished my scarf, so now i am gonna have to start something else that will be a quick knit-just in case she comes…I know how to make her come, I’ll start dh’s socks!
Dotty: (lol, jk) Actually I’m thinking Dec. 1, so you’ll send me some yarn :o)

Caitlin’s a GOOD and a SMART girl…
#1. “aunty dot” told her to stay in there until December, and mommy would get yarn to make Caitlin something smooshy…
and…
#2. She’s gotta have lots of strength to be heard over, and to keep up with, Bailey and Jacob !

and #3, she needs fat on her little body so that she wont freeze this winter! yup u guessed it, she’s still in the oven…I’ve never been pregnant this long-kinda wierd, my body’s ready to feed her (if you know what I mean) and she’s not here to feed yet.

Dustinac: I made myself and my sockintine swap pal a pair of those earings that kp is now selling for $7.99-that’s crazy! Hobby Lobby sells the charms and the earing posts (ok so their not posts, but you know what I mean) and all I had to do was open it up and slip it on, easy as pie to make. ok I’ll get off my soap box.
I do like their cool color selection of sock yarn though, but you noticed they priced it so that you have to pay shipping on it? tricky. And the charm bracelet is a cute idea, but um where’s the socks? (ok now I’ll really get off the soap box)

Hi to everyone! and hope y’all have a great day knitting!

Quick question to anyone who’s knit mens socks before: is 100g skein enough? I’m just gonna do plan ribbing all the way to the heel for my dh, and dont want to run out. Also how tall should they be? SKS book says 7.5", but that seems really tall to me…Men out there what do you think?

No, I didn’t see that…well if you have to pay shipping you are better off just picking the 6 colors you want… I don’t think it saves you as much as I first thought either… I was telling mom about the earrings and she bought a pair somewhere she couldn’t remeber where for only 3.00 and they are the exact pair… same with the charm bracelet…so I guess my KP magazine is not as exciting as it was last night :teehee:

A couple of years ago in a swap I got a great basic sock pattern that has from toddlers to adults in all types of yarn…it’s my guide to go to for questions
It has for Men’s fingering wt sock yarn you need 425 yards with a gauge of 7 1/2 sts = Inch…It has work men’s leg for 9"…I measured dh’s socks and this is what I make his cuff… they fit him up on the calf…that is how he wanted them though…I tried to get him to go with a lower cuff so I wouldn’t have to knit that much

Arrghh… just got the shipment email this morning! I ordered late Thursday night, so I was hoping it’d be on its way now. I’m really too busy to do much for now–I just hope it makes it by Thanksgiving.

I hope so! I ordered 4 (50g each) skeins hoping to get a single sock out of each skein. We’ll see… (I wish one of the big chain stores around here stocked sock yarn… if they do, it’s well hidden.)

It’s a personal preference. I personally like them on the long side. Is that 7.5" from the top down to the ankle? Or all the way to the bottom of the heel? If it’s the ankle, I would consider that about right, but it would be a bit short if measured from the heel.

But my son, on the other hand, likes the ones that end barely an inch above the top of his sneakers–go figure.

SteveDallas: yes that’s to the top of the ankle. Thanks for your imput, I’d like to make them for him for Christmas, but don’t think that’s gonna happen.

Good morning, good sockies !

I tried to post my revised Weave pattern last night and got the old error page and lost it so I gave up. Started me thinking that maybe I should let the knitter who is doing the red sock know that I am using her sock as an example, so I’ve just private messaged her through Flickr. The sample I knitted, (which would have been a whole sock leg by the time I got the look I wanted) doesn’t have near as many rows as hers, but I’m not doing another ‘sample’…I’ll be sick of the pattern before I actually get to knit a pair of socks from it. I may start the real socks today, though. I don’t like the looks of it in a variegated yarn as much as in the solid…I’ll share a picture later if/when I hear from the other knitter.

AprilDavis, I was thinking about your ‘too-long’ socks being worn with thongs, last night as I was going to sleep…so sorry I didn’t comment before…what a BRILLIANT idea ! They look really good !

dustinac, that’s probably one MORE catalog I WON’T get ! What’s up with them…I did get a response to the email about longer needles though…

"Dear Dot,
We have received a lot of requests for the longer classic circular needles. We are certainly take all these requests into consideration.
Sincerely,

The funny thing is that I have been knitting with the 40" Addi needle that ChristinaKnits sent me, and it is so strange after being used to the 32 inch length…you’re used to having to pull the cable a certain length to reach the needle when you switch needles, and you have to pull SO MUCH FURTHER ! I probably don’t need the longer ones EXCEPT when I knit 2 at once !

Julie, you won’t know what to think if you wind up holding a ‘full-term baby’…she’ll be SO BIG !
