I was explaining to my ‘dear’ :hair:hubby how I needed to ‘try out’ my needles, and he was saying that since I bought them for myself, they weren’t a surprise anyway, so why not just start using them. I replied that I only expected to get one other gift, which was the knitting book that I picked out and he bought for me last month, so I wanted to save my biggy to go along with it. He says…“Book?” I don’t know anything about any book !" Thinking he was kidding, I sloughed it off, but now, we’ve both searched the house and can’t find the book that he swears having NO KNOWLEDGE of ! :wall:

Unfortunately, he’s not kidding.
This girl’s going on a treasure hunt !

Maybe he hid it at his office and is planning on making it a “surprise”

found it !

dotty, you a crazy faster sock knitter! I can’t believe you already have the first one done!
I got the sock bag yesterday its so awesome! I can’t wait to start using it. But No socks for me until the pinwheel sweater is done. I’m almost done with the body of the sweater, hopefully the sleeves won’t take too long!

Oh, I’m such a happy camper, today !

Side note: Do you find that the cables that come with the set feel thicker than the ones on the fixed circulars in the sock sizes. Mine feel thicker/stiffer to me. No biggy, just sayin’.

:woot:Yay!! Another slipper sock done… :teehee: Throwing this out there just in case anyone wonders you can get 2 pairs of slipper socks out of a skein of Caron if you make them like I did…just holding 2 strands of different colors and not switching out for the heel and toe color… You prolly could get a 3rd pair started but would need another skein to finish the pair… I need to figure out what to make with all the left over skeins I Have…

Anyways this Pink is from a buddy bag I made Roo not sure what else I used it on…can’t remeber… and the blue…I have so much of this blue colorway… I made Roo a Christmas dress last year and boughts tons cause I knew I wanted to match Isaiah’s sweater…but I ended up going with green and using the blue to detail :teehee:…I’ve used one skein for the scarf I finished…these socks with tons left…one skein for the next scarf… and then another full skein :oo:…I think I may make me a beret out of some of it…

Martha’s Slipper Socks
Size 8 dpns
Caron Simply Soft in Pink and Blue
(she got a pair last year and requested another pair this year :teehee:)

:passedout: dotty those socks… I love them!!!

I’m glad you found your book and you are getting to use your options… I never noticed a difference but I started with the options and then bought the other…so maybe that’s why? :teehee:

My dh would have said no… he has me order what I want but when it comes in I can’t open it or anything…then he wraps it and puts it up…I can’t even peek lol… then he always buys something to surprise me with even though I tell him not to :teehee:

Dotty, it’s nice to see life is GOOD for you! Your sock looks LOVELY! The idea of a cable up the back is so cool! I usually wear clog-type shoes in the winter, so that would be PERFECT for me!

I just re-cast on my socks. I decided to do the Widdershins two at once toe-up. So I’ve got three rows done. I felt it in my thumb this morning, so I guess two rows will have to be my limit. So at two rows a day, they’ll be done by…

Oh who cares when they’re done? They’re SOCKS and they give me a break from knitting on my DH’s Andoasweater which is getting VERY BORING, since I keep changing the pattern or finding mistakes (big sections of mistakes) and having to frog and re-knit. I can knit on that for about 30 minutes at a time, so it gets a little more attention than socks, but it’s VERY DULL!!!

Christinaknits~ i like the new name :woot:…

GJ~ That’s right… take your time with them and they will mean even more to you when you bind off… I clicked on the link for your dh’s sweater but it took me to knitty for socks :teehee:…I’m glad you are getting to knit

Oops. Here’s the pattern link: http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/andoa/andoa.html

ohh I like that…Looks like it has just enough pattern to break up the boredom of a long knit…

It shouldn’t be so boring, but I’m replacing the garter stitch with extra granite stitch. I’m SO tired of it! The garter stitch section seemed to be a completely different gauge than the rest so I frogged and re-knit.

Hi I’m knitting my first pair of socks now.
They’re knitpicks dancing in hula using magic loop. If they come out any good, they’ll be for my mother.

I love sock yarn!!! I got tofutsies at Rhinebeck…can’t wait to start those!

Thank you all for the compliments on my beautiful sock…even having done the Kaylee’s and the Monkeys, this is my FAVORITE sock, so far ! I am just mad about it !
Yes, GJ, you remind us all to enjoy the process, and not just the finished product !

The Options set checks out good so far. I made me a page label for each page of tips… http://www.flickr.com/photos/dottycam/1716819817/

I really won’t know much about whether or not they come unscrewed until I actually knit a project. I may try something tonight, … all I did today was try each needle to be sure it screwed on all right and knitted good across 16 stitches in the round…, and once in a while , when I went to unscrew a needle, it was already loose one or two turns. I don’t want to overtighten and strip the threads, so, yes, I used the key, but not too hard. I think they’ll be fine…loosening is one thing…you’ll catch that because your yarn will hesitate over the opening. That’s not like actually popping off !
Only one cable has a little barely rough place where it grabs the yarn…I’ll wait about complaining, to see how it is in actual work. I know they’re really good about sending replacements. I already know that I want some longer cables, and the size 13 tips.
Have you noticed that you have to be careful about pulling the first stitch TOO tight when doing MagicLoop on the bigger size needles. You can get it so tight on that little cable, that the stitches won’t slide back onto the needle without great force !

Hi, SamSam…:waving:…WELCOME !

I love your buttons avatar !

Hey Socksters!!:waving::waving::waving:

I’ve missed you guys! It’s been busy at work and at home this past week but I’ve been oohing and aahing my way through all the missed pages to catch up tonight!! So many pretty socks, yarns, and shoes too!!!

You sock knitters are such a talented bunch… I always come away with some new inspiration. In fact, I think once I finish my current pair in progress I’m going to pick up some worsted weight and make slipper socks for the family. I’ll never finish sock weight socks for all of them this fall but I think I can turn out some ‘around the house’ socks on 8’s.

I don’t have a finished pair to share. I’ve been less than productive (can you say frog).

I frogged my 9 to 5 sock.
I’m considering frogging my Trekking sock, now that’s it down to the toes! And I have a Regia stripe, yes stripe, sock in progress that may survive the ripping frenzy. :gah:

On a brighter note, I met Stephanie Pearl-McPhee at her book signing last Friday night and had a blast. She’s wonderfully entertaining. :teehee:
And my littlest dupey doo, my grandson Keegan:heart:, came for a visit over the weekend and we went pumpkin patching. We saw several little babies wearing knitted pumpkin hats at the pumpkin patches. So cute! He tried his little sock on and it was a tad too small so I’m going to have to redo that one too.

Well, I’m going to try to get some sock knitting done and some pictures taken to share later but in the meantime, in honor of October, one of my favorite months … pumpkins!

Dotty - U lucky girl.

Dustinac - Nice socks.

Sam Sam - Welcome to the club.

C G - what do they do with that many pumpkins ?

Dotty, your socks:inlove::inlove::inlove:totally awesome!

dustinac, your slipper socks are great.

As for my socks, I’m working on the leg of the second sock, so they’re almost done. I souldn’t move to fast with them. On the first of November, there’ll be a sock-kal on my dutch socklist and since I missed out on the last kal (didn’t like the pattern that much and didn’t have enough time) I really want to join this one. (the pattern is still a surprise) I just have to wait till 11-1, so till that time I have to keep working on these socks. Well, I’ll save them for the train only.

Good Morning Socksters!!! :blooby:

GJ~ yeah, I would prolly still have a problem with boredom too… I can’t even start a baby afghan cause it’s just like blahhh it will be boring :teehee:

Samsam~ :woot:Welcome to the KAL!!!:woot: Let us know how you like the tofutsies yarn and how it knits up…

dotty~ Whenever you get to them to knit with them and if you run into a problem KPs should be ok with it… Mom got hers in Feb but didn’t find out till June that the 6s wouldn’t twis in and they didn’t say anything… they told mom to keep the bad 6s but mom sent them back anyways :teehee:…I don’t use my longer cables very much at all… the 24 and 32 are the most common for me to use… the Civil War shawl is on one of the 40ish inch cables can’t remeber which one…but it needs to go up again…

CG~ :waving: the slipper socks go very very fast… I only do 16 Rnds for the cuff before I start the heel… YAY for meeting the Stephanie Pearl-McPhee…I haven’t read her books but I do enjoy her blog… I’m sorry to read about the frogging…ohhh Pumpkin patches… I just love fall lol…

Hi Jackie!! :happydance:

Lieke~ I keep joining in so many sock kals… I can’t keep up… I had to cut out the ravelry one for this month although I think you really have 2 months to finish the sock…have to go back and read that… but I already know I want my next sock to be the snowflake ones… :teehee:

Christina~ It does seem like broomsticks…I’m having that problem now with 11s :teehee:

I hope you guys have a good day of sock knitting… I’ll be working on the wrap…I’m kinda having trouble with it…My shoulder isn’t likeing it for some reason… not sure why… I think it has to do with me knitting with 0s-2s most of the time and now I’m on size 11s… I didn’t get very far last night before I had to stop… only thing I can think of that would hurt that left shoulder…cause if it was the lawn mower then it should have hurt all summer…:teehee:
