Any Sock KAL

dotty- those would be the prettiest mittens/gloves evah!

thanks for sharing my excitement everyone! More exciting news, only yarn related…I was looking up some patterns online yesterday and looked up my lys website to see if they had what I wanted before I bought it online (they didn’t) and saw that their sock yarn was 20% off!!! so of course dh thinks it was planned that they had that sale the day I came off bedrest-the sale ran the 15-20 so I went today and got myself some tofutsies and my dh some austerman (I think) His came with reinforcing thread-never done that before but I’ll use it. He’s pretty excited that I thought of him and he hasn’t even seen his yarn yet. Hopefully this weekend I’ll post pics of the yarn so y’all can see it. (I know I’m mean making you wait-sorry, don’t have my camera here).
dotty: those would make pretty mittens, good idea Jeanius.
glad to hear all the stormes left all y’all alone

Hello Socksters!!! :happydance:

1to1~ I have that book it’s very interesting and has some cool sock patterns

jberry~YAY for yarn sales!!! My lys has one for super bowl and that’s about it…Can’t wait to see the pictures…:happydance:

I’m going to start my other n’bors scarf today and hopefully after that I can get back to socks… :happydance:

Hope you guys have a good weekend of sock knitting!! :blooby:

dotty, that looks great!

yippie!!! I’m back home at my computer!
I got the cuff and part of the heel done on my sisters sock today, can’t wait to finish it and start on dh’s socks, or maybe mine…hummmm…
? for those of you who have made mens socks out of fingering weight yarn…the yarn I chose is self striping (pictures comming soon) what kind of ribbing have you done, for how long? and then should I continue the ribbing all the way down the cuff or just do straight st st?
Hope everyone had a great Saturday and enjoy your Sunday!

:happydance: jberry glad you are back home and moving along on your sisters socks!!!

I’m starting slipper socks today for 2 people… I tell ya here I thought ohh no Christmas knitting and for some reason since this month started I’m doing Christmas knitting and it keeps growing… :teehee:

I tend to like the ribbing carried down the foot… I have made both types for dh even though it wasn’t finger weight… he likes the ribbing carried down too… I have made myself some self striped socks when I first started knitting and the ribbing was carried down and I like it… plus it breaks up the pattern a bit… it’s prolly more on what your dh likes though…

Hi peoples !:muah:

Tried a different method for short rows yesterday and I liked it…no wrapping ! No picking up wraps !
http://www.knitlist.com/2002/ToeUpSock.htm
Also used this page,

which made one or two little modifications, such as slipping the first stitch, on the way back up longer rows, rather than knitting it. I think that change made a tighter stitch on the side. You want to remember to pull that first stitch that you make every time, nice and snug, then go on across the row.

dotty, they look great, what kind of yarn is the toe? Are you going to use it for the heel too? :cheering:

That’s some kind of superwash that I got in a bag full of destash yarn from Etsy. I want to do the toes, heels and cuffs out of it…but…I just found where I accidentally knitted 6 rounds before cabling, where all the other spaces are 5 rounds between cables. Don’t know that anyone else would ever notice. I’m so wishy-washy lately, I don’t know if I’ll keep it or not ! I just enjoy the knitting, so it doesn’t bother me if I rip and start again…that way, I get to enjoy a skein multiple times :roflhard:.

Did you get any sales last night, Alex? I picked up a ‘secret’, and bought some earrings, all from the same person.

I made a bunch of progress on my socks. I am at the point of the heel on the first and just cast on for the second of the pair. I am waiting to do the heels until I am at the same point on the second to avoid SSS.

I posted a picture of the first on my blog.

Happy Birthday, BostonBecca ! :balloons:

Oh, my Gosh, I wish you hadn’t eaten all of that CAKE ! I tried to squeeze just a meager piece through my screen, and I got an ERROR message ! :roflhard: Supply depleted !

I love the yarn you’re using for your JayWalker…what I could see of it looks YUMMY !

Happy Bday!!
Just dropping by to say hey!
Loving everyone’s socks!
I’ve got some that I need to post, but have to edit the photos…another pair for Lonnie, of course, simple ribbed socks for gym.
happy socknitting one & all!

Hi,

Happy Belated Birthday to Becca.

Dotty - i love the colour of your lastest sock very much, and to think that it is a destash item… and thanks for the site.

A good day to our mums-to-be too.

mornin Jackie! do you still need pay it forward participants?
Dotty: the socks are very nice
bostonbecka-happy belated bday!
I found a pair of MaryJane type shoes the other day and wore my opal socks with them today to Church and then later too. I’ll post a pic, hopefully tomorrow. Along with the new sock yarn and the progress of my sisters socks. Finished the heel today and so I’m in the homestretch of the foot now!

Morning,

I have checked my PIF blog a while ago. There is a 3rd angel waiting for me.

Thank you, Jackie ! Yes, the turquoise is VERY nice, and I have been searching for SO long to find a project where it could become heels and toes ! The beautiful multi-colored yarn is from our sockalong’s own brilliant RoryGilmore ! She hand-dyed it herself and I traded her a sock bag for it. It isn’t superwash, but I don’t mind mixing the two…I pretty much handwash all of my socks anyway. I only have to be super careful to be sure that socks for my daughter’s little family are ALL superwash !
I sent them their little sock family this week, by the way, so hopefully in a couple of weeks I will find out what fits (and get photos, if I’m lucky )!

Thank you everyone!

It was a wonderful day.

I am really nervous about the first heel.

hey sockies,
I started a new pair…first time toe up and 2 at a time…wooohoooo…I LOVE Panda Cotton

those look so great! i love the colors Tina

Tina, they look great. I’ve been wanting to try Panda cotton.

I’ve always thought the 2 toe-ups on circs look like a bra or bikini top when only the toes are done. Hee hee. (Yes, I’m a 12 year-old trapped in a 20 something’s body) :teehee:
