Hi annomalley ! :waving: WELCOME !

That’s alot of firsts for ONE sock ! But the short row heel should actually be easier to do on the circulars than a heel flap, since you probably won’t be increasing for a gusset. Losing those ‘tracks’ was the ‘magic’ ingredient for making me switch to the ‘loop’ ! Before I tried it, I thought it was all about speed, and I couldn’t figure out how all that sliding stitches from one end of the cable to the other could be fast. And although I have developed a rythym when doing it, I doubt that I’m any faster than I was on dpns…but seeing (or NOT SEEING, actually) those joins on the magic loop method was PURE HEAVEN.
Hope you’ll hang out with us regularly and have a good time. I should go back and read the thread from the beginning again…it’s amazing to me how much I’ve learned during and because of this thread !
Wow, there seem to be tumbleweeds blowing through here tonight ! Guess everyone had Saturday night plans ! Me? I’m checking out the Saturday night specials…our own RoryGilmore has half-price shipping on her shop tonight
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5027635
and her yarn is just $13.00 a skein ! Gorgeous new colors, Alex ! Why am I always drawn to orange? MUST RESIST THE ORANGE !
I dont know about tumbleweeds, but it’s windy enough outside to be blowing some big suckers here. I know we have them, but they’ve all blown the other way.
dh is bathing the kids and so I’m on the computer for just a min. Got my hair cut today and you can see pics in the blog-cut more than 8" off!
Oh, that looks really good !
I never know what to ask for, so mine just grows until my daughter tells me I’m too old for it, and then I have it cut up above my ears and just start all over again ! :roflhard:
cute hair! nice sock yarn! dotty… just buy it anyway!
that’s all i got to contribute tonight…
hey everybody!
Julie…prayers for you and the little one…your hair looks really cute! I love the sono pic you have up on your blog!!!
well, in sock news, I have finally turned my first heel…wooohoooo!!! I have tried a couple times before to knit socks but always made a mistake or chickened out before this so I’m really excited! Plus it’s my Autumn Foliage yarn from ThankEwe and it looks awesome knit up! I’ll take a pic in the morning and post it. Ya know, I decided that if I was gonna learn this sock stuff, I would do this one in DPNs just to see which way I like better, and it’s weird but I kinda like the DPNs…lol…but I will definitely be switching back to Magic Loop…I just like it and I can use the metal needles without them falling out of my sock…right now I’m using the Brittany wood DPNs and they are already chewed up and I don’t even have one sock finished and they were brand new…ugh…anyway…nighty-night guys and thanks for gtetting me hooked on socks…my hubby will not thank you, but I do…hehe
jberry16, your hair looks cute!
Good Morning Socksters!!
dotty~that stinks about KP and their catalogs…I couldn’t tell you the last time I got one… I thought they did it like every 3 months or so for the seasons… did you buy they yarn? :teehee:…
jberry~ Keeping you and your family (grandma) in my prayers…I like the hair cut!! I always cut mine off super short…then decide I want long hair…let it grow but just keep it pulled back in a pony tail…I’ve been thinking lately of getting it cut again…
April~We all get side tracked lol I’ve been working on the stole of Mystery this weekend :teehee:
Pauly~ I know on the OT forum they had how you could get it in your sig… I posted how I thought my dh did mine… but I’m not for sure…oh silve came back and said you could ask a mod…hereis the link to the topic
GJ~That stinks…insurance is a sore subject with me right now…ours keeps going up with state farm… but nothing has happened… thinking of changing but I’ve only had but the best results with them so kinda afraid to change… i think they know that… I hope the repairs go smoothly…
jeanius and rory~ you both have beautiful yarns up right now… I go and drool lol… I don’t like that my yarn shopping is over till after the holidays :pout:
Annomalley~ :woot:Welcome to the forum!!! I can’t wait to see the socks finished!!!
knittynewbie~ I can’t wait to see the photos!!! :teehee: my dh is thankful too… actually he is just glad I’m not bringing home anymore boyds bears…he says the yarn doesn’t stare at him
Ok so I was going to start some Nancy Bush socks…cause one of the KAL on ravelry is Nancy Bush or cables… but then I was gifted some Koigu… and I’m not sure what it wants to be… and then I seen thesesocks…and I really like them but they have no cables…so I’m trying to get the Mystery of the Stole through clue 1 and then hopefully I will know what I want to knit … I did make a pair of baby socks…although I forgot about jberry’s pattern till I had finished sock 1…and I forgot that my new Cat Bordhi book had baby socks in it as well… I just went back to my same ol’ pattern… so I gotta make more so I can try out all the new patterns… :teehee:
Hope you all have a good day and plenty of sock knitting…
Hey everyone :waving:! I thought since I am now knitting socks I’d see if it was OK if I join you. I am making these socks in this yarn . You can see my meager progress on my blog
I am actually a little further than that picture, they almost fit over the recipient’s toes now! I am definitely beginning to understand the love of sock knitting. I am already planning on what socks I want to try next! There really is some super yummy sock yarn out there!
All of your socks have been amazing and I have really enjoyed reading your posts.
:woot:Welcome Holly!!! Your socks are looking great…of course you can join us… the more sock knitters the merrier we are :teehee:…I need to try 2 at once …
welcome Holly!
Thanks for all the compliments on my hair-I feel like I lost 5lbs! (in hair)
And thanks for the prayers too guys; I (we) really appreciate it.
Dustinac: I always cut my hair short, then want it long and by the time it gets to about where it was, 1/2 way between my shoulders and bra strap I get sick of just having it in a ponytail and wack it off again-hence yesterdays haircut.
lol my 3year old ds just squeeled b/c of a spider in the hall. He sounded just like a girl, lol. Talk to y’all later, happy knitting.
I’ve finally got a pair of socks to show you, the cutest baby socks ever! LOL, after I knit and knit and knit socks we started this kal and I’ve not been knitting socks, LOL! But, there should be more in the future! These are for a friend from Julie’s Caitlyn’s Amethyst Socks pattern These are the only socks I’ve ever enjoyed knitting toe up, of course, I’ve not been using the figure 8 cast on, so, who knows, there may be more toe up socks in my furture, perhaps designs, one never knows! These went along with Julie’s 10 cable baby hat and the Mason Dixon baby kimono
I am so sick of the ponytail right now, too. I am thinking of chopping it off, but this is the first time in my entire life that my hair has been past my shoulder blades. I want it long, but I just don’t know what to do with it besides pony tails or braids or buns. So if I’m going to pull it back anyway, why not just cut it? Plus, since I have more hair than your average yeti, I would probably save money on hair care products. But, still. It’s soooo long! Ahhhhh…what to do, what to do.
No plans, just making progress on the sock. :knitting: I took pictures of both sides because of the neat looking color change with the short row toe and the self striping yarn.
Thanks for the welcome!
Thanks for the welcome!
I decide to do the 2 at once to avoid SSS!:teehee: I made a pair of mittens for a friends little girl and it took me forever to finish them because I just couldn’t get myself motivated to cast on for the second one.
Becka that is such a sweet baby ensemble! What a lucky baby!!

Austermann Step. Color #20.
Good morning all,
The beautiful Cherry Tree Hill - Life’s a Beach is here, but I have been procastinating on starting the #3 pair …hmm
Hi Julie, love your new hair-do.
Welcome on board, annomalley. did u use the 2 same length of cir needle ?
Jackie,
One is a 16" and the other is a 24". I got two different lengths so I could tell them apart.
