Any idea what this yarn wanna be?

Bought this visiting Europe some 10+ years ago from the small shop. I guess I had idea than but not now.
What to make?
Got 8 skeins 50g 100m

That’s interesting yarn with the bobble things. I’m sorry, I’ve no ideas for knit or crochet. I’d not try knitting it but that’s me. I might glue it on old jars or something to cover them for tool or pencil holders.

This is how looks on other side,

It is a 800m total, around 850 yards.
So soft and puffy, I guess it’ll be still on hold

What about a chunky, cropped jacket with contrasting yarn rib at the hem, collar and cuffs?

Ty GG, Salmonmac, Doubleknitmadnes for ideas. I’m really not sure if this yarn can be knitted or crocheted either. It is wery soft puffy puffs on teeny tread hard like wire.
It has to wait till WIP tablecloth and future cat blanket is done, at least that is plan. Surviving stroke not long ago though me a lesson not to plan to many things.

Strokes are horrible things. I hope your recovery is gong well.

I’d have to try working with the yarn to see how it goes. Obviously it’s not the bobble things I thought it was. What is the name of the yarn? I can’t quite read the label to look it up.

It’s one of the Handmade yarns but I can tell which one.

Yes, a wiry base would make this better for projects other than hats or garments. Maybe placemats?
Hope you are feeling better every day.

Yes thanks thankfully my right upper part of body is almost healed but leg especially foot and ankle is still numb.
It is not wire in the yarn just thin strong thread, and other is so soft puffy like cloud, than that fringe of threads around too. It reminds me of chenille yarn.

Looks like some swatching is in order.

If you swatch on different size needles, ome basic garter or stockinette and just see what happens you will likely get a feel for what it wants to be.
Then maybe try some simple variation of the stitch, for instance stockinette until you reach a fluffy section then reverse stockinette just until the fluff runs out then return to stockinette - I bought pattern whih used a discontinued yarn that had texture through it, not so fluffy or chunky but even so, the stitch pattern was basically what I just said, working one stitch until a textured length of yarn, changing for that length the changing back. Th result was designed randomness and very effective.

What might happen for instance if you knit garter throughout but at each fluffy section you just did yarn overs until you passed that section, then on the next row dropped all the yarn overs (or worked a single stitch into it) and pushed the loose loop out to the right side?

I like the idea of a jacket with a “regular” yarn for cuffs in a matdhing colour a salmonmac said, or switch that around, a regular yarn sweater or jacket with this fluffy yarn as neck band and cuffs, hood, like a faux fur collar look, or a faux fur hood trim look.

A hood scarf? There are patterns for hood with attached scarf and pockets in the scarf ends for hands to keep warm in, those are fun.

I also really liked the idea of the cushion cover but depends if that goes with your interior design or not.

If you post photos of swatches we might have more ideas.

If you look at other patterns in fun yarns, fashion yarns, textured yarns, you might find inspiration.

It’s a fun challenge!

I agree with @creations
I’d swatch on big needles and see what it’s like. It might work well for a chunky shrug / poncho or wrap? Or lap blanket?!

Ty for great ideas. All of them sounds good. My biggest concern was (and still is) will it be enough to finish project? That is why it is still in the box waiting.

If you don’t mind some maths you can approximate how much you can knit with it.
From a swatch you are happy with multiply stitches by rows to get total stitches, weigh the swatch on kitchen scales and divide by number of total, stitches.
Then you get get an idea of how many total stitches you can work with that amount of yarn.
I did a similar thing, not quite the same, weighing yarn I was re using to make a new sweater with stripes, worked out a row was 1g so I could weigh what i had of each colour and approximate how many stripes I coul get. It helped massively with designing the stripes.

:kissing_heart: I just know you will say that  and next time I go to the Europe I will bring you yarn to do that .
It is old saying " you cant start to teach old horse to pull wagon"
Just joking.
After finishing my WIP-es and some i really cant wait to start on I might just to do that. But probably will be GrampyGrammas way, start and wing it till I like it. Blanket probably or scarf that always can give away.

It occurs to me that if I decided I could knit this yarn I’d start a shawl and knit till it was all used up. lol The shawl might be more of a scarf it the yarn doesn’t go that far. I just had an idea. I have a wool jacket that’s scratchy so I like to have a scarf to protect my neck handy. I might find out if a Faroese style scarf could be a thing. I could look for a pattern I suppose.

You might fall in love with this yarn and have to get more of something similar.

In last 10 years never saw something similar, it is so soft even softer than baby yarn. On touch is like chenille on steroids lol. I think I found it when was looking for a wool to make a shawl for a niece. It was discontinued yarn on sale and they got only last 8.
