Hi! I’m new here, and new to knitting. I’ve been able to pick it up pretty quickly, but this Reverse Pattern business has me stumped, I just can’t seem to figure it out. After reading replies on a dozen knitting forums, I still can’t. I’m feeling a little slow LOL I think if I can just figure this one out, I’ll be able to do it on other patterns in the future.
This is the pattern instruction:
Front Left
Cast on 45 sts.
Rows 1- 6 moss stitch.
Rows 7-40 stocking stitch, starting with a knit or right side row.
Row 41 Knit 1, cast off 1 knit to end of row.
Row 42 Purl.
Rows 43-71 Repeat rows 41 and 42 – total of 16 decreases, 29 stitches remain.
Row 72 Cast off first 7 stitches and purl to end of row.
Row 73 Knit to last stitch and turn.
Row 74 Cast off first 8 stitches (including the unknitted stitch on the right needle) and purl to end of row.Front Right
Follow instructions for front left, reversing shaping
So… to reverse the Front Left, am I:
Cast on 45sts
Rows 1-6 moss stitch
Rows 7-40 stocking stitch, starting with a knit or right side row. (or would this be starting with a purl, or with a knit on a wrong side row?)
Row 41 Knit to end of row, cast off 1, knit 1?
Row 42 Purl
Rows 43-71 Repeat Rows 41 & 42 until 29 stitches remain.
Row 72 Purl row until 7 sts remain, cast off last 7 sts?
Row 73 I have no idea???
Row 74 Purl until 8 sts remain, cast off last 8 sts?
Is that right? If not, if I’m way off base, feel free to give a little giggle :teehee: and then I would really appreciate if someone could just write out the Front Right directions for me LOL I think just seeing it written out properly once and I’d “get it”, maybe even have a lightbulb moment LOL
Thank you sooo much! I should add a big thank you, too, because I’ve gotten tons of great info from this site already!
