Another question on subbing yarn

Hello All,
I found a kid’s sweater pattern that I want to make for my son. It calls for Rowan Handknit DK yarn. This yarn is 100% cotton and I have read mixed things here and there on 100% cotton yarn, but haven’t knitted in about 2-3 years, so I may be way off here!! Should I sub this yarn with a cotton blend type of yarn or will the Rowan be just fine? Also, if I cannot find the Rowan Handknit yarn, any other similar brands or does it matter???
Thanks!!!
:muah:

The biggest consideration when subbing yarn is that the gauge is the same. If you want to use a blend that is fine. Cotton is not as forgiving so it’s harder on the hands, but some people love it. It’s personal preference.

Here’s a link to one of the many places that carry it.

Thanks Jan. I am flying out on Tuesday for a few days, so I will try to find it locally if I can so I can have it in hand!!! Although I want to knit a scarf too, so maybe I will just bring material for that!

Thanks again.
